3 simple, non-designer-friendly ways to DIY your l 3 simple, non-designer-friendly ways to DIY your logo on a budget without sacrificing quality. 😯 I had such a great response to one of my recent articles, "A Simple and Authentic Branding Process for Solopreneurs" that I wanted to elaborate on an aspect of branding that many solopreneurs put a lot of pressure on themselves to get right - the logo. (PS. if you're interested in the article, DM me and I'm happy to send you the link). I’ve always created my own logos, so I'm offering a few tips to help you DIY a logo that reflects you without hiring it out: 1. Create a text-based logo rather than an elaborate design. 🅰 Golden rule: Keep it simple. As a non-designer, stick within the realm of what you can do. I don't do elaborate designs with fancy flourishes that require a 5-year degree. No, I choose a nice font that reflects my vibe (see pic above) and add a simple icon to add personality and variety to the design. 🤍 Done. Note! If your business is a name other than your own, a text-based logo may not feel right. In any case, you can still give yourself permission to play with different options to see what you can come up with. 2. Use a pre-made template. ䷓ My fave places to source pre-made logo templates are Creative Market and Design Cuts. The key is to use your brand keywords to help you narrow your search (ex. Feminine logo template, classic serif fonts, etc.) to help find one that reflects you and the energy of your business. 3. Use your handwriting. 〰 This is an ultra-fun way to add a unique and personal vibe to your business. ☝️ Grab a clean, white sheet of paper and handwrite your name. Use a pen, felt tip marker, watercolour brush or whatever tool feels right for the job. Add a design if you're feeling it. ✌Scan it. 🤟 Remove the background. If you're comfortable with photoshop you can delete the white background or use the "remove background" tool in Canva Pro. For free tools, DM me and I can send you the links (I need to dig them up). As I evaluate what's important to me and how I want to live in accordance with that. As conscious solopreneurs, we can sometimes fall into the trap of feeling unworthy of having our desires met, or taking more than we "need" when there is so much poverty and suffering in the world. It's okay to not need anything but still want something more. Get clear about your priorities and the changes you need to make to make what you want happen. Much love, K.
Intuitively choosing colours and fonts for your br Intuitively choosing colours and fonts for your brand. Every couple of years I like to refresh my colours and online vibe because my business has evolved and I've grown as a person. It's important that how I feel is reflected in my online presence, otherwise, I feel disconnected or uninspired. I see business as my art. An extension of who I am. If you have the soul of an artist, this concept is easier to accept and understand. THE PROCESS 🔮 Step 1. Envision a space that reflects your vibe and energy. What does that space look and feel like? What colours do you see? 🌈 2. I use Chrome’s eyedropper tool extension to pick colours from my moodboard. I pick 3 that draw my eye in first, then I add two more that can be used for backgrounds and fonts, etc. 🙃 3. Then I mix and play with different tones and shades of each colour to see what I can create. I love expanding my creativity through such a simple process. Although I do rely on my intuition to walk me through this process, I also have a solid understanding of basic design principles and colour harmony to know which fonts and colours work or clash, including the emotions they evoke. If basic visual design is something you struggle with, what's your main frustration? Do you struggle to find fonts and colours that reflect you and the energy of your business?
I've been working with the energy of the moon and I've been working with the energy of the moon and this past Full Moon in Aries had some insightful messages for me. Since full moon energy 🌕 is about letting go and forgiveness, what are you holding onto that's getting in the way of you reaching your goals or getting what you want? I've been consciously working on increasing my self-worth 🤍 from the standpoint of knowing I'm worthy of my desires. Loving myself more so that I can live true to my values. It's also about finding the balance of not being too attached and smothering my desires (putting them out so to speak) vs. giving them space to take form in the shape it needs to. So on that note, I'm working on letting go of beliefs that tell me I'm not worthy of getting what I want along with any attachment to my desires. It feels like such a relief to not have to carry all that around. What are you holding onto?

Sounds weird, but it kinda makes me teary just writing that. I guess because it's true. Authenticity is one of my core values. Authenticity is the key to resonance. Resonance has the power to move people. In an online world where everyone's trying to outdo each other and portray an image of someone they're not, express yourself beautifully and honestly—your audience will feel it. The term ‘heart-centred gets used a lot in the c The term ‘heart-centred gets used a lot in the coaching world. What’s interesting is that I’ve seen a lot of coaches using the term in their marketing copy but still *pushing hard sales* that are anything but heart-centred. For me, heart-centred is the desire to be of service to others in a way that’s greater than your desire to make a sale. Of course, you need an income to thrive, but heart-centred selling honours that your service isn’t suitable for everyone. Whether they’re not ready for your service or it’s simply not a fit, there’s no pushing, pulling, coercion or manipulation to get someone to work with you. Ever. Swipe right for more thoughts 🤔
